  Gonzo breakfast: under cooked sausage, plain eggs and no options for toast. Breakfast burrito: decent but nothing special. For a 50$ breakfast (with tip) it wasn't worth it. The service wasn't great either, the staff disregarded our concerns. I ordered guacamole for an extra 3$ and took half my burrito to go, they didn't put it in the box! Very annoying. The BPD potatoes are just mini potatoes that look like they've been fried, not great either and no other option to change out the sides was given. We won't be going back.

  Blue Plate Diner is pretty overrated as a restaurant staple of Edmonton at this point. The last few times I have visited, plating has been poor and the food has been of disappointing quality, thoughtlessly executed, and overpriced for what it is. This time I ordered the grilled cheese. It was grilled on one side and soggy on the other. The tomato spinach soup was bland. Oh the taste of disappointment. Last time we went for brunch. BPD potatoes are just pan fried baby potatoes - it's unsurprising that their eponymous brunch side would be uninspired and bland. At least service is average.
