  • Great restaurant! Been to Joey's dozens of times and will keep going. Food quality is always great, service is good and the decor is lovely. Keep up the great work!

I have been here a handful of times and always have experienced nothing but the best service, until my last visit that is. I'm from a small town just outside Edmonton and JOEY is my go to when I am in town for work. The last time I was in we were seated quickly and our orders were taken in a timely manner. Kitchen staff are on top of it with food times but the service/waiting staff has gone down hill. Our server (I'm not really sure if she was our server because we had about 4 different ones come by - she was the only one who stated her name - Nadya) checked in once after we received our food. Our drinks and waters were empty for just under 30 mins before another server had noticed. As for our server - she was sitting in the booth just across the section she was serving. Completely UNPROFESSIONAL. Coming from a professional background and it was mind blowing to see a server on duty sitting and chatting with friends for up to 10 minute intervals. Was there a manager on duty? Is it a new policy to just sit with tables or friends while other tables are lacking the service they are seeking? When customers go out for meals its because they are willing to PAY for the service and expect the best. I don't think this JOEY server had this mindset at all. **Update** This review is solely based on the service and not the overall experience. Food was beyond exceptional. 5 stars

  • I treated my daughter, who had just had her first baby, to a Mother's Day lunch at JOEY. I'm from Ontario, and had never heard of these restaurants before this visit. We were greeted and seated efficiently by friendly staff who took into consideration the fact that we had a newborn with us, and found us a relatively private table where he could be fed inconspicuously if necessary (happily, he slept throughout the entire meal - good boy!) We each had a salad, mine with ahi tuna, and my daughter's with chicken. I couldn't believe the works of art that were brought to us! Just beautiful! And the flavour was out of this world. I have never had such a delicious salad; each bite had a new and interesting surprise from mint, to cilantro (which I generally don't like, but in this salad, it really worked.) I still think about that salad and wish there was a JOEY near where I live. I know this review must seem a little too effusive, I mean it's just a salad. But this wasn't any old salad - it was really something special. Our server was also pretty special - a lovely and kind young woman, also a young mother who was working on Mother's Day but with good humour and without complaint.

A girlfriend and I went to JOEY's on a Friday night for drinks and food. The night started out really well with the hostess seating us quickly despite how busy the restaurant was. Our server however started out by forgetting what we ordered for appetizers and needing to come back and ask us again (totally understandable, it was busy). We got our appetizers and then main course quite quickly which was awesome. Our server though seemed to forget about us during the course of our meal. We sat with empty water and cocktail glasses for 45 minutes before she checked in with us, walking by us multiple times when we tried to flag her. She spent the majority of her time chatting with the predominantly male tables and rolling cutlery. We were originally planning to order more drinks and desserts but by the time our server remembered to check in wth us, we were so frustrated that we just asked for the bill so we could leave. All in all, decent food but the service was definitely sub-par.
