  I chose this restaurant for my birthday lunch because we love Italian everything & I've been to the downtown location before & loved it. Today was the worst lunch experience for both of us & clearly it was bad because I've never typed a bad review for anywhere, let alone on my birthday afternoon!!! At first we thought our server was nervous so we gave her that, but soon learned she was just not engaged, poor at her job & actually rude. We dismissed this because let's face it, if the food is delish we can overlook poor service. We started with the calamari....which was tasty but the sauce was clearly from a bottle.... It tasted like catsup.... We then had the risotto balls which were ok but I have never been to an Italian restaurant that served powdered Parmesan????? We then all of a sudden had a new server who brought us our carbonara.... Never quality checked it and we couldn't stomach it... We each had one forkful and stopped... Horrible....soaked with oil... We truly couldn't leave fast enough.... We dine out often... Are very generous tippers & we truly struggled with how much to leave as we were so disappointed... A very disappointing experience & we will be choosing the many other options available to us lucky Albertans for the future .... Boo on Sorrentinos!!!!! Go somewhere else people!
